Dear Parishioners,
As you know, our annual Lenten collection came to an abrupt end (before it really began) as the doors of our church closed in March. This year, the recipients of our donation were the Little Sisters of the Poor who staff St. Joseph Home for the Elderly in Totowa. The request for gift cards, hand lotion, etc., is a simple way to help the Sisters care for the elderly poor in our community. Could we count on your support again this year? Please take a tag off a table in the vestibule when you come to church this week to pray. Purchase the item and return the item(s) to the box in the vestibule by June 7. Once again, thank you for your generosity to help the needy among us. Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament,
I write with good news! The Archdiocese of Newark will begin a three-phase reopening of our churches. The first phase of the opening is for private prayer only, and we await the second phase that will include weekday Mass and Funerals. The third phase will be Saturday/Sunday Masses with restrictions in place for safety reasons. Here at O.L.B.S. we will have our church open this Sunday, May 17, 2020 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM for private prayer and visitation. During the weekdays, the hours will be 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The guidelines ask that we observe social distancing and wear face masks. As more information becomes available, I will send it to the parish. Sincerely yours, Monsignor Christopher J. Hynes |
