Ask that question of any of the kids who come to Youth Group; they will tell you the same thing - Youth Group is a place where they come on Sunday night and hang out with their friends. eat twizzlers and have fun. All of that is true. What they don't tell you is that Youth Group is where they come and talk about their feelings and concerns and pray with one another. It's also about learning to put Jesus in the center of their lives and servitude. In all that they do, they serve. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom
for many." Mark 10:45. They walked for hunger in October; they gave Fr. Chris a check which helped a widow with small children and put a young girl in school for a year; they held bake sales this year to benefit a soup kitchen. During retreats and at meetings, tough topics are discussed. In sharing their difficult experiences with one another and sharing how Jesus has helped them through it, they are serving one another. Now, during Lent, they are getting ready to serve you, our Parish Community. They are in rehearsal for the Passion Play. The Passion Play has been a part of our Parish Youth Group for over 20 years. It's not performed for profit, applause or recognition. It is performed out of love, the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The Passion Play will be performed on Good Friday at 8:30pm. If you have never come before, I encourage all of you to come out and see it. It's amazing to see what teens can do for love. I haven't missed a performance in over 16 years.
